Mountain bikes are especially designed simple machines to aid human beings in difficult terrain or for performing stunts. They are just like ordinary bicycles, but with better features like:-

1) Better gripping, even in slippery surfaces, gravels, sandy, muddy, areas.
2) Good for performing stunts, jumps, spanning of rocks and clunkers.
3) Good for mountainous areas with steep slopes, inclines or declines, ups or downs, on road or off road, and rocky areas.

So, for making it tough to face all the above challenges, it is highly technically designed.
Some of its attributes are wide wheel base with extra friction with threading, shock absorption or suspension.

The shock absorption is a main attribute based on which the bikes are classified into:-
1) Fully rigid, as the name suggests, it has both front and tail rigid and so no suspension.
2) Hard tail, as the name suggests tail is hard and so, no suspension in the tail means back wheel. But, the front has a suspension to help.
3) Soft tail, as name suggests the tail has got soft suspension.
4) Dual or full suspension: - again as the name suggests both the front and tail has got suspensions.

Different people ride mountain bikes for different purposes. So, there are changes in the attributes of the bike according to necessity of the bike riders (light bikes, 9.5 kg), Trail Bikes (6.8 to 11 kg), All-mountain bikes (14 to 16 kg), Free ride mountain bikes (14 to 20 kg), Downhill bikes (18 kg), Dirt jumping bikes, urban and street mountain bikes, Single-speed mountain bikes and North Shore bikes.

So, there are many other mountain bikes, that too primarily falls in the above four categories. A few of them are Cross country mountain bikes,
Therefore, mountain bikes nowadays come with multiple gears. These are specially, designed for mountainous terrain, that is, strengthened and reinforced to withstand shocks from jumps and other impingements, riding over rocks, gravel, dirt, mud, sand, sticks, and other slopes .etc.

Like motor bikes, mountain bikes, nowadays, have disk brakes, V-brakes, hydraulic disk brake and mechanical disk brakes.

The angle of the head tube and the angle of the seat tube are critical angles in the design of mountain bike. These angles are measured from the horizontal orientation, and drastically impact the rider pose and functional execution of the bicycle. So, more exorbitant angles are more effective for cycling Upward on sloppy hills and are better in balance and handling. While just opposite is followed for high speeds and downward on sloppy hills.

Bicycle wheels come in three sizes, 559 mm, common, 520 mm, and 620 mm according to International Standards of Measurements. For, friction manufacturers, make various tread patterns, for various terrains.

Some of the common tread styles are street tires with outer tread and a center ridge, front-specific, fully knobby, slick street tires, rear-specific, and snow studded. There are others for special purposes too.

Nowadays, more and more youngsters are going for mountain bikes. So, I hope reading this information will help you.

The spirit of freedom is instilled in all men and women alike, and for many, that freedom is found on the throne of a mountain bike. The rider often has a sense for adventure, and shapes that sense to a bike specifically tailored to enhance those adventurous sensations. Although most mountain bikes we may see in a store, called mountain bikes, they maintain only a slightest of the spectrum of capabilities designed for the entire genre of mountain biking.

Stock mountain bikes fall into one of four different categories: full suspension, soft tail, hard tail, or rigid. They can be found constructed in any variety of materials, all of which cater to a purpose that bike was created for. Most serious mountain bikers try to find the lightest material available, for easement of the muscles, due to the power-to-weight ratio factor, stating that, the lighter the bike, the less the effort required to make it perform the same action as that of a heavier bike. Most mountain bikes are found with 26" wheels, although variations can be found between different manufacturers.

Full suspension bikes are easily picked out from a line, betrayed by their suspension fork in the front, as well as a rear shock system that allows for the movement of the rear wheel. On these specific bikes, the purpose of the front shock system is to absorb most of the pressure from any obstacles encountered: for instance, a sidewalk or speed bump. The rear shock system is designed to absorb most of the riders' weight, giving a sense of smooth riding over less than smooth terrain. Many of these bikes can be found in department stores as entry level performance bikes, offering a gentle ride, appealing to most riders who will most likely never leave the city streets.

Rigid bikes have no suspension shock in the front or the back, and, therefore, make for a ride that is less comfortable than the more popular suspension bikes. People opt, instead, to go with either a hard or soft tail bike. The absence of minimized presence of a rear shock system provides a sturdy frame for the bike.

Mountain bikes are used in a variety of different sports, from simple cross country road traveling to the extreme speed cross style, where bikers will travel paths through dense forest, heavy with roots, rocks, and other obstructions, at seemingly high rates of speed. An ideal choice of bike for the speed cross style would be a lightweight, full suspension bike, due to all the rough terrain encountered.

Other sports that star the mountain bike include mountain cross, which consists of bikers racing a downhill prepared course, and dual slalom. Both sports require specialized mountain bikes with strong frames, normally a hard tail frame, with special equipment to aid them in short accelerations and tight corners.

Mountain bikes are easily available in many different retail venues for a quick, easy form of entertainment. They have the addictive ability to provide hours of quality fun, and can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. They remain a steadfast addition to a healthy lifestyle, and make it easy for anyone to exercise well into their maturity.
